The Awesomeness Of Skiing

When people mention skiing most think of downhill skiing. Skiing is a sport that makes many people very happy and excited when they think of it. Gorgeous well kept pistes, to ski on till your heart is content.

You can ski in many areas and many countries such as; Switzerland, Austria, Andorra or Bulgaria and many other countries, France and the USA are very popular.

Skiing can be slightly easier then snowboarding but really you should try both to see what suits you. It’s best to start with some ski lessons so that you learn how to ski correctly. You can also take some ski lessons on a dry-ski slope near where you live. Then you can get used to skiing before you get out on the real snow. The added benefit is that it’s actually easier to ski on snow then on a dry-ski slope!

Skiing is a fairly expensive holiday you could book an all-in packages which means everything is paid for. The majority of people though go for half-board (means you get breakfast) or self catering to keep costs down. Food at the ski resort is very expensive even if you do self catering.

It is possible to rent ski clothing – very useful if this is your first trip and you don’t know if you want to go again. You also have to pay for a lift-pass cost varies enormously between ski resorts. Also you’ll have to rent the skis, boots and poles at the resort.

To get up to the slopes the ski resorts either have chairlifts or draglifts that take you up. A draglift works by pulling a large button down from a spring-load, and putting the button between you legs, this then pulls you up the ski slope. A chairlift works by usually 3 or 4 people sitting on the chairlift which then takes you up the ski slope.

One thing is for sure that skiing is an experience that you won’t forget in a hurry and you’ll want to do it all again next year!
